Earl the Pearl
And so the sun sets on Fiji. Another season of survivor has come to a close and Earl has been named the million dollar sole survivor.
All kinds of venom being shot Dreamz way. An interesting character, to say the least. The longer I have to think about this guy, the more I think he's a candidate for a VH1 reality show. Just put him in somewhat difficult or uncomfortable social situations and watch him try to work out of it. If he gets clear and no one has any idea how he did it, Dreamz wins $5,000. If someone can see through it, they win (or if it's a group effort, they share the 5K). Call it "Win Dreamz Money".
Or something. Does it seem like I was hoping for a little bit more from last night? At least we got a really juvenile, hate filled inquisition by the jury. I don't think it accomplished anything, other than allowing them to pop off, but it was the best 10 minutes of the show.
Without further delay, enjoy the finale of BuffsOff!

Hello, or Bula, Buffs Off crew and listeners. I hope you are all enjoying your inter-season hiatus.
Over here, in Ireland, we're still only about halfway through Season 14, and so I have braved the spoiler-ridden seas of the internet to pimp my Survivor blog/webcomic to you all. I'm a long-time listener, first-time poster, so hopefully this won't be misconstrued as spam.
Anyway, I'm slowly making my way through the podcasts week by week, resisting the temptation to skip ahead. If any of you would like to visit me, and maybe relive the emotional rollercoaster ride that is/was Survivor Fiji, feel free. I'll even make you a cup of tea, or coconut milk, if that's what you're in to.
It's here, assuming the tags work. If not, just click my name below.
Keep up the great work guys. Looking forward to Season 15 already :)

Can't we all just get along?
Look, if Yauda didn't put his Monty-Hall-Let's Make-A-Deal hat on, he wouldn't have been bitten in the ass! I'm sorry Yauda, forgive me, but you put yourself in that position.
It's just a game. It's called television. If the knobs are broke on your set, go to Walmart, by a universal remote for $8, shut the tv off, then stick the remote up your.....
Sorry, got carried away there.

who cares if he is a liar and a cheat? it is the people on the island who have to choose whether or not to get rid of someone. they didnt get rid of dreamz when they could have or should have and he made it farther than the others. bottom line.
there is also something to be said of the way that cbs portrays a player, and how the player chooses to represent him/herself. i could be the biggest piece of shit on the planet, a fact known only by those close to me, but if i put on a happy face for the other schmucks, who is going to know? if you dont allow yourself to "fall out of character" who cares how you play the game. we the viewing audience will form opinions about these contestants, we will root for some, and curse the others. its an entertainment show, kent. cbs wants ratings. they arent going to put the 20 most moral, self righteous, bible thumping tree huggers out there because that would equal zero excitement, zero interest, and zero advertising income.
just take the game for what it is. a game. view the people on the show the way you want, but remember that it is about duplicity, and getting as far as you can. if you want them to play a nice friendly game where no one gets hurt , go watch some Survivor: Marquesas reruns. if you want to see the show rise to another peak, quit yer bitchin.

Dreamz is a liar and cheat that has nothing to do with playing a game. It is a matter of his true character. What goes around comes around!! I guess when you grow up on the streets of Wilmington N.C., you won't learn direction or morals. He set trusting black people back 50 years. It's a shame
but that's the way it goes. The right thing to do, would have been to give the truck back to Yao. I hate Dreamz for what he did!!!

well once again the best player has to settle for third place (according to the seating arrangement on the reunion show). that would of course be dreamz. i am starting to think that the spirit of the game will never actually be realized again. its outwit outplay outlast people. every advantage that is given to you, should be taken. throw everyone under the bus, go back on your word, lie, cheat, steal, whatever it takes. i get pissed off when the jury tries to villify dreamz for the way he played. hello! he played the game idiots! i can understand yelling and belittling cassandra, she had no business out there and i am not surprised no one voted for her, but what did earl do? didnt piss anyone off? well when you are being carried into the final by the guy that you helped vote out fourth (yao) you dont have to do anything.
dreamz played the best game out there, even better than yao. he played yao with the truck thing, but yao put the deal out there so it falls on his head, not dreamz. and it amuses me when the jury holds grudges and tries to give a closing remark like sue hawk's on borneo. get over yourselves people, they beat you. you lost. thats how the game works. side note: how about edgardo's limpdick question? all he did was reiterate that dreamz used the horse jockeys and all the info they gave him to get further in the game with the coarse four alliance. brilliant.
so, for me, a disappointing end to yet another season. another non-risk taking boring winner, and the person who plays the best ends up third. i see a disturbing patten emerging with those facts, almost to the point that i might consider not applying this cycle. then again, maybe it is high time that the best player actually does win, so i guess i will go ahead and play. see you guys in china!

Funk and Jeff
Just priced it out on ford.com - $57,390
That's a lot more then I thought. I could stomach the lie at $25-30,000 a little better. At almost $60,000, that's a little different.

Actually Funky, the way that truck was pimped out, I bet it would be closer to $35-$40,000.

I know a lot of people are saying they would turn on Yau just like Dreamz did. I think that is a bunch of crap. This was not just a matter of promising one thing and doing another. This was agreeing to a large monetary payoff and (if you believe what Dreamz said in the post season show) having no intention of ever following through. Granted, Yau created the situation and set himself up for disappointment. Still, I feel that Dreamz earned every bit of the booing he received. In my mind he was too mercenary even for Survivor.
I also think that Alex's little act at the final vote proved what an idiot he is. He tried to go all attorney on everyone but had his facts wrong. He tried to put Cassandra on the spot for offering friendship and comfort to Stacey one week and voting her off the next. In reality, I don't think Cassandra voted for Stacey. Stacey's exit was entirely her own fault. She tried to get sneaky and it came back and bit her on the butt.

Even in the context of a game where you are supposed to lie and deceive, you don't take a 25 thousand dollar truck from a guy and then stab him in the back. You just don't.

I don't mean to brag, but I called it (even though I was pulling for Yau-da)!
If you don't believe me, check the old posts (March 24th).
Why are people pissed at Dreamz? Hello, who have you been watching all season? This is the guy who was like a human pendulum between the Earl/Yau-da alliance and the 4 horses'asses. What, just because he gets a letter from home, sheds some tears, and shows that he's grown (a little) as a person, you expect him to keep his word to Yau-da? He's playing for (cue Dr. Evil) "one million dollars!" I'd throw the little Jedi under the bus too if I could.
Dreamz biggest problem was stabbing people in the back earlier, so when it was Yau-da's turn, he completely ticked off each and every jury member.
God, I can't stand seeing Lisi!!!!!!!
I look forward to listening to you next season.
